Re: men's clothing

I love men's clothes. If I weren't curvy (and therefore anything untailored makes me look like I'm wearing a sack) I woud wear men's fashion all the time.

Women's clothing I find dull, badly made an impractical. Can I get just one skirt with deep pockets, please??

DA

Totally agreed on everything here. Except the skirt thing, but that only because I don't wear skirts.

AYRT I don't much either, but I resent not having the option!

Yep. What the actual shit is up with pants with no pockets, and shirts made from fluff and tissue paper that a) provide no actual warmth, and b) rip to pieces if you tug on it the wrong way.

AYRT I know, right? It's like the more you pay, the less material you get and the colder you have to be.

Mind you, I'm the last person anyone should look to for fashion tips. I'm the kind of person who'd be perfectly content in a Seasonal Utilitarian Smock every day of the year. I tend to wear the modern, socially acceptable equivalent of that anyway (t-shirt/hoodie with jeans/cargo pants) and the same pair of black shoes with literally everything.

But seriously, what is with the flimsiness/coldness of women's clothing. Dude, she needs to borrow your jacket because hers is made out of spiderwebs and gauze while yours is constructed from practical materials that retain heat.

I think it's so they can make you think you need to dress in layers, and thus buy more flimsy, overpriced garments. Which annoys the shit out of me.

never thought of it that way before. Now it annoys me too. :|

You know what really irks me? When there is a fake pocket sewn where there should be a pocket. Who wants to just look like they have pockets and not use them?

I would give somebody's right arm for any garment designed for women that has decent pockets -- skirts or jeans. It boggles my mind when I reach into the pocket of a pair of my boyfriend's jeans and my arm disappears halfway to the elbow. I WANT THAT.

Why can't clothing designers understand that there are a substantial number of women out there who buy pants with a purpose in mind other than making their ass look good? My jeans are intended to cover my lower body and provide a place to keep all my stuff so I don't have to carry around a purse to forget everywhere.

I'm one of the above anons, and I solve part of that problem by buying men's cargo shorts as capri pants. Since I'm short, I legitimately have women's "pants" that end higher on my leg than some of the men's "shorts" I've bought. And then, pockets! So many pockets! And they're super comfy.

Of course, this only works if you're okay with the occasional weird looks, or assumptions that you're a lesbian. It's definitely not for everyone, but it works nicely for me.

I so miss the brief vogue for 'carpenter jeans' back in the naughts or whenever that was...I had a pair of those bugger with about 5 deep pockets plus a hammer loop, comfortable and not bad-looking, and I wore those bastards to RAGS then patched them up then wore them again.

One thing you can do if you're buying jeans that aren't skin-tight is expand the pockets yourself--usually it's just a little baggie made of different cloth, and it's not too hard to cut the end of it off and sew on a deeper pouch. :D A pain but I have been glad for it!

Somebody needs to start a loud, insistent, continent-spanning campaign demanding decent pockets in womens' clothing from all designers/retailers.

I'd start it myself, but I just don't have the time, what with sewing all these real pockets into the defective clothing I've bought...

I actually bought a skirt that doesn't entirely fit me from a thrift store, just because the pockets are deep enough to put my keys in. I'm trying to lose a little weight, so hopefully it'll fit better soon, but I just couldn't bring myself to pass up the pockets.

You know what fits in my front jeans pockets? Lip balm and a flash drive. Yeah.

The things that annoy me the most about womens clothes are shallow/fake pockets and fabrics that are see through when they're not suppose to be. Gee thanks now I have to layer shirt in summer when it's hot as balls out so people can't see my tits.
