I have never heard someone say "__ ate ___'s lunch" before.

I don't think it's odd to prefer a more approachable game to one that is more true to the them but overly difficult. After a certain point difficult becomes frustrating and not fun.

It's got an Urban Dictionary entry, so it can't be that rare. Actually, it has an Investopedia entry, too, which kind of amazes me. http://www.investopedia.com/terms/e/eatingoneslunch.asp
