I definitely do not trust my own perspective on this. I was in 5th grade and fairly unaware of culture even for a kid.

Are you kidding? "Rah Rah This Is Our Pearl Harbor" makes people feel good. That and they were being told that relentlessly.
I'm not going to claim 9/11 didn't have a big impact, simply that culture wasn't really different before.

(Anonymous) 2014-05-14 01:38 am (UTC)(link)It's not like you can expect everyone to be able to express themselves eloquently or completely factual, but attitudes did change. And to be fair Pearl Harbor was also a huge event, so obviously those who lived through it are going to be influenced by it.
