Stairs with spaces between the steps. I always feel like I'm going to fall through even though I know I'm too big for that.

Yeah, my ex hated steps like that. It hadn't occurred to me before then that they would make people uneasy.

This was probably my #1 fear when I was a kid, but only when ascending. Descending, I'm afraid enough that I'm going to fall, anyway, so what difference do the holes make?

Those make me uncomfortable too but not for the same reason? I think I always felt like those were really unstable/not strong - especially wooden ones. Not a fear, just a weird discomfort that used to be stronger, but eh.

If they are outside and more than a single story above the ground, steps like that are the bane of my fear of heights. Especially if they go over roads or train tracks.
