I'm afraid of planes, which wouldn't be weird. Except that I'm less afraid of them crashing than I am of them flipping. I have severe vertigo, and planes are the worst. Even slight turns feel like the thing is going to flip.

I have a fear of heights, but it only manifests on things that are low to the ground and not secured to it, like a stepladder or scaffolding. You could put me on top of a tall building and I wouldn't give two shits.

Trypophobia. (I don't recommend Googling it.) It's a fear of things with patterned clusters of holes, like honeycomb or, in my case, barnacles. Eeeeeeeck, I'm all shuddery and squicky thinking about them now.

Heights.

This would be less weird, except I live seven plus floors up, and ever so often get really fucking hit by that fear and spend a while staring into the godamn abyss that is between the balcony I have to walk along to get to my place and the floor.

And I love living this high up, it's just when I get directly faced with the balcony walls below my centre of gravity.

Roller coasters. Or most park rides, really. They scare the shit out of me. And yes, I've ridden them. Over and over again, really, trying to beat my fear by confronting it. But no. They still scare me.

Stairs with spaces between the steps. I always feel like I'm going to fall through even though I know I'm too big for that.

The little flaming face statues in Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga. The ones you have to extinguish by getting Mario to suck up a load of water and then jumping on his head. They're so creepy.

Also Pokemon glitches.

Fancy dress parties, like for Halloween. I can't go anywhere where everyone is in costume, especially if it covers their faces or it's a very transformative costume.

I'll look at pictures of the party afterward, but I don't want to be there.

It isn't a huge phobia, but when I'm on my period I can almost never sleep because I'm so afraid of bleeding all over the sheets. I really do only get about an hour of sleep a night for a week.

After binge-watching some LPs of the Fatal Frame games, I am suddenly afraid of stuff randomly falling off shelves as I walk by.

I don't think these are that weird (or well, they aren't uncommon anyway), but elevators and heights.

Bugs creep me out so much. Almost any type. I just...no. NO.

My consoles kind of worry me when they make noise too. I know it's normal but I always fear they're going to die. I've had too many consoles, and I've seen so much death. So much death...

Oh, and I'm way more afraid than any person should be of being murdered in my own home. If my dog starts barking at night my mind tends to jump to, "Is someone about to try and rob the house? I'd rather not die right now."

There are surely other things but those are the ones I can think of.

ET. I saw the movie in the cinema when it came out, and since I'd already read the book I didn't expect to be so freaked out by the vivisection scene. I still can't look at the character.

Opening doors and looking through windows at night. I am terrified of one day opening a door/looking through a window and seeing something.

I'm not really afraid of it, but I can't stand being in rooms with open doors; it makes me very anxious.

I also used to be afraid of walking past windows at night, which I think has something to do with a strongly developed fear of snipers I had as a child.

Plants. I've recently realized that they really creep me out. They start out as a simple seed, then they mutate underground and start growing, roots digging down and then they pop up out of the ground.

None of this is anything I didn't know before, but actually watching the process, able to poke at one and feel how firmly the seedling is rooted, watch the way they rise up from the soil (like weird little heads on a green body because the seed is still attached) then the two leaves unfurl and they start moving, leaning toward the sun.

This is completely irrational and out of nowhere, but the plants growing in my kitchen are creepy.

I am afraid of dark water. This includes in games.

You know how you can do a bit of swimming in Skyrim? Scared the ever-loving shit out of me to go underwater. Also, in the underwater zone in WoW, I scared myself by swimming down to the bottom of the trench. I forced myself to do it, because it's a ridiculous fear and I thought it might be good for me, but it was awful to do.

I am otherwise not afraid of water levels in games, though. If the water is bright and clear and I can see everything around me, then I'm fine.

I'm having a terrible time wording this, but it's essentially 'maps that show topographic details of the seafloor.' I don't even know what the fuck is going on there, but there are straight-up parts of atlases and Google Maps that make me nope right on out of there at the same speed most people treat clock spiders with.

Heights, but only when I'm controlling my movements. Airplanes? Fine. Rollercoasters? Fine. Roof of a tall building? GET ME DOWN NOW. It's not that subconscious "pull" towards the edge I occasionally hear people talk about, it's just a fear that something will happen and I'll fall. But when I'm in some kind of specialized vehicle (cars on mountain roads still freak me out), whatever part of my brain is freaking out just accepts that someone else has already thought about the something that might happen and taken care of it.

Zombies. I don't like dead bodies all that much though so I think it's linked to that in some way.

Mirror's, especially in the dark(if I'm walking around without the lights on I move so that I can't see my reflection in any of them).

And not so much fear but I'm uneasy with deep bodies of water I can't see the bottom of, I always think some giant sea creature is going to come up and eat me.

I don't know if I have any right now. Like, I definitely have fears, but they're not "weird".

For a long time as a kid, though, I was legitimately afraid of toilets.

I used to fear lightening as a child for all the expected reasons - simply that it's loud and sudden. I grew our of that, but at some point also saw a TV doco about it too. It mentioned how some people have had electric shocks in lightening storms, because of lightening-inducted power surges running through normal household things, like phones, or taps.

Basically I developed a fear, as an adult, of being near running water in electrical storms.

Crossing bodies of water on a bridge. Maybe I'm part vampire or some shit, IDK. But bridges make me nervous. It could be a little bitty footbridge or a big suspension bridge, on foot or by car/bus, over a river or across a lake. It just makes me nervous going over them for some reason.

I have no such fear of boats, though. I love boating and swimming. Just bridges make me really nervous.
