It isn't a huge phobia, but when I'm on my period I can almost never sleep because I'm so afraid of bleeding all over the sheets. I really do only get about an hour of sleep a night for a week.

That's terrible, anon! Can you overlap pads to cover more area, or wear a second pair of underwear to hold it more snugly to your body?

I have long since resigned myself to the reality that every other period or so I will bleed on the sheets. It just happens. I just throw 'em in the wash. I have shitty cheap dorm sheets right now, so it doesn't really matter anyway. I guess if I get new sheets anytime soonish I'll get...red ones or something...or black ones...IDK...

ETA: also, have you tried night pads? I use these huge ones that go almost all the way to my waistband in the back. I call them "diaper pads". They're not perfect but they definitely help. Mostly if I leak it's because I wasn't expecting it to start right then so I wasn't wearing one.

Bed pads. They're commonly found in hospitals and nursing homes. They're faced with cloth, but have a waterproof layer inside and protect the bed/bedding from bodily fluid accidents. You can also buy disposable ones and can find them in most pharmacies.

Or invest in some dark red or brown sheets.

The bed pads - for clarity, you don't wear them, they're a largish thing you lay across the bed under your hips.

I've found that I can usually avoid leaking onto the bedsheets while I'm on my period by wearing super/ overnight pads and sleeping on my side. Sleeping on your side is the important part, mind you. Try it and you will be amazed!
