Drinking a lot and going to bars/clubs

I'm not a prude, and I don't mind a drink or two, but I hate drinking with the aim of "getting drunk" both in philosophy and practice. And I hate loud, crowded places. :(

Yep. I once drank enough to make me worry that I was going to hurt myself by falling over (I have very fragile joints; it's a pretty realistic fear for me) and I could barely type. I don't know how those famous drunk writers did it. Anyway, not doing that again.

Me too!

Not to mention, the drinks in a club are incredibly overpriced. I don't understand how some people who are the same age as me can afford to go out every Saturday night and spend hundreds of dollars on alcohol.

Clubs & bars (especially the ones with loud, obnoxious EDM playing in the background) are my least favourite places. You can't have a decent conversation.

And I don't understand the aim of drinking to get drunk. Being drunk is horrible - hangovers, vomiting, embarassing yourself everywhere, losing control of bodily functions. No thank you!

That's what a nachspiel is for. As long as you've got the passing privilege to still into the clubs.

Loosely translates to "pre-drinks". The idea is you have a reasonable amount of drinks that everyones brought along at home prior to going out.

Reasonable in this case translating to how much your friends like to drink to get comfortable.

I agree. I enjoy a drink or two, but I don't understand how being drunk is considered fun. I've only been drunk once, and it was an awful experience I never want to repeat. Plus, bars are loud and crowded and not my thing at all. I'd much prefer drinking at home.

I hate drinking and bars! But I am super introverted. And if I do drink, I only drink to get drunk. But I hate the flavor of alcohol (specifically the burn). And I hate bars (and I wish my coworkers weld stop inviting me).

I have hearing aids, which makes crappy combination anyway. The music kills my ears, but I can't hear anything people are saying.

And getting drunk isn't remotely appealing to me.

I'm not one for drinking or large crowds so clubs/pubs have always been pretty uncomfortable for me. But I'll take pubs over clubs anyday, and for the most part my friends tend to op for the slightly quieter pubs these days anyway, or going round someone's house.
