Shoe shopping. Just... shoe shopping. I had to look for a pair of fancy shoes recently because I hadn't worn my only fancy shoes in so long they got mouldy and... ergh... why are such fragile shoes expensive? I understand boots being expensive because they have to be made of something special to survive being attached to my feet for more than 6 months (My latest ones have lasted 5 months so far and seem set to last another 5 at least).
Clothes shopping isn't so bad. I am short enough that I can buy clothes aimed at teenage boys and it's a lot easier to find good clothes cheap. I also have some skill at taking advantage of freecycle.

Drinking and partying in loud places (thank you hyper sensitivity to sound).

I just got done shoe shopping. I spent $20 on a pair of shoes I will only wear once. :(

Wow...
A lot of the shoes I thought looked decent were in the £30 range. I guess I am terrible at shoe shopping too...
(I ended up borrowing some shoes and stuck them in a bag, only to end up wearing my boots to the whole thing. I don't think anyone noticed).

I used to hate shoe shopping but then I started paying attention and noticed how ugly a lot of the shoes are so now I like to laugh at those. I swear I saw one pair once that looked like clown faces. I've also come to appreciate the once I like more.

I hate shoe shopping as well! NOTHING FITS ME. my ankles are so narrow everything slips off and I get blisters from my shoes. Now I'm starting to think I'll have to get my shoes tailored or something, but that's probably expensive.

That sounds horrible...
If it wasn't your ankles I'd have a suggestion but... all I can think are dolly shoes or boots.

Shoes don't fit me either. And I never figure that out in the store. They always fit fine. But when I get them home, sandals dig into my skin and cut me; anything with a heel is impossible to walk in without pain; and flats also cut my feet and are impossible to walk in. I refuse to wear uncomfortable shoes, but its so hard to find work-appropriate shoes that I can actually wear.

I FEEL YOUR PAIN, FELLOW ANON.

you try it on and the store and think: "finally! here is a pair of shoes thqt will fit me!"

and then you start wearing them and get blisters

Same here. A big part of it is that I have big feet (length wise that is) so it often really hard to find shoes in my size. I will see something I like and depending on where I am shopping I will ask the sales person "Do you have this in a 12?" Most times the answer is "No." Or I will look at the sizes they have and most times they go only up to a size 10. There are a few places that do carry the larger sizes, but they tend to cost more.

The only time I don't have a problem is when I buy sneakers. I buy men's because with sneakers who really cares?

Oh shit, shoe stores! I have feet like boats (size 11B) and cute shoes either do not come in my size, or once they get on my feet, they no longer look cute. And my heels are narrow, so I have to deal with shoes that come off my feet, or gap at the sides, or do something else that's annoying.

I took a trip to New York back in April and wanted some shoes I could walk in, but that would still look pretty. "Oh, these are the most comfortable shoes you will ever wear!" said the saleslady. "I wear them myself in the store!" Now, when somebody who's on her feet all day recommends a pair of shoes, you expect they'll be comfortable, right?

NOPE!!!
