Re: Most memorable encounters with a celebrity

Brandon Sanderson was at a con I went to last year. He had scheduled signings, of course, and I brought 'The Way of Kings' to one. As he entered and walked by the line, he shouted "does anyone have a copy of 'The Way of Kings?'" I wound up handing him my copy.

"Oh, fantastic!" He started flipping through it, then said (I'm paraphrasing, of course), "one of the people who's doing art for the second book is here, and I wanted to show him some of what we did for the first book so that he has a better idea of what we're looking for. But I completely forgot to bring a copy! Is it okay if I take this and run over to him? I'll be right back!"

I was like "*deer in headlights stare* ...OKAY!"

"Thanks! I'LL BE RIGHT BACK EVERYONE!"

So, not only did I get my copy signed, but he used it to talk shop with one of his artists, and he wrote "thanks for loaning me your book" in it. I just about died. It was awesome.

That is an awesome story! He seems like a pretty cool guy-- the kind of person who would be nice to hang out with.
