Re: What is something you hate doing but everyone you know loves?

I have a strange relationship with "selfies", mostly because I know how to photograph myself. I study photography and generally hate being in front of the lens, but I have done some self portraits using the self timer on my non-cellphone camera. Likewise, I've seen some good self portraits done with (semi) professional equipment. I think what bothers me the post is fucking Instagram popularizing turning average to mediocre camera equipment onto yourself and filtering the results to hell and back. Since it's (unfortunately) easy enough to do on cellphones it's become all too popular while simultaneously looking like shit. I've lost track of the number of selfies I've seen where the white balance does weird things to people's faces or the rather overexposed backgrounds I encounter on outdoor selfies. Thus, I'll occasionally mock selfies by turning my DSLR on myself, making sure to obscure most of my face with the camera itself. :-P
