Sebastian Stan

[personal profile] nyxelestia 2014-05-17 10:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Probably not a secret for whoever was here yesterday, but I'm on a bit of a Sebastian Stan kick and want to see more stuff with him in it. What's worth watching, what's not, and/or any good video compilations from a show or movie with just his scenes in them? :D

I LOVED Kings as it aired and didn't even know it was him because I watched Kings while it aired years ago. I know not everyone enjoyed it, but it's only 10 episodes or so, it's not a long series.

I've loved him in almost everything I've seen him in. Uh, Kings, Political Animals, Once Upon a Time.

But I wouldn't recommend The Covenant or The Architect. The Covenant... For some people it's a cheesy movie that's so bad they look back on it with fondness. I just hated it. Barely made it ten minutes before I considered quitting, and by mid film I was wishing it was over. I finished, but it was seriously not my thing and held nothing for me. Looking back, it wasn't worth the time, even for Sebastian Stan.

Pretty much the same for The Architect, which sucks because the cast was pretty good. And the actors tried (And since we're talking about Sebastian, he was seriously, seriously gorgeous in this film, and good in general), but... It just kind of went nowhere. It hardly moved, there was no satisfying resolution to anything, it was majorly depressing... I didn't care for it.

I actually didn't love him in Once the first time around. I could see his potential as an actor I could like, but I didn't love the character and was surprised at how much love he got. Now I get it, and rewatching season 1 I can love him even if I still don't love the character much.

I don't think the character is the most likable ever or anything, but he was pretty interesting and I think Stan did a good job with him. He's not my favorite ONCE character, but I was really glad to see him in the show and was pleased with his acting.

Some people adore the character so much it's almost baffling, but I think it's because of Stan's face. That man has a great face. (And I don't mean because he's pretty, though he is. But he has some wonderful expressions, and he does emotionally damaged bad boy well.)

Aw, I love The Covenant, although I definitely get why it's not for everyone :)

I know! Both you and (I think) nightscale liked that one, so I thought for sure it was going to work for me! You never know, I suppose.

At least the locker scene was hot. And Sebastian's over the top character was amusing, but...the writing and special effects were so, so bad. Which again, can be charming in a way...

I just didn't like this film, lol.

lol I will agree that it has so much going against it. I guess I just like the hot guys, the concept of how their magic works and the fact that they're all so slashable with each other. When I first watched it, I gorged on the fic. The fandom actually lasted a good 6 years after the movie came out but it's mostly dead now.

Ah, see, maybe if I had found the actors more attractive...

Of course there's Stan and he's gorgeous, but the others didn't do much for me. Which... You know, isn't a reason to not like something, but when you don't care for it then lots of hotness can tip the scales a bit.

Six years is a long, long time for a film that didn't get much recognition.

Not even Taylor Kitsch? Not important though ;)

I think the reason the fandom existed so long is because there were several guys to slash in many different combinations. And there's tons of OC/one of the guys fic out there.

I think I'm going to watch this, so - fic recs? :D

Hope you like it :) Most of the fic I read back then was on LJ. There might be some on Ao3 but I haven't looked. I can't even remember any authors that stood out. I always liked Reid/Tyler best. They don't get as much screentime as the others but they appealed to me the most.

Political Animals is good, Kings not so much, IMO. Kings seems to be one of those shows you either love or hate; personally, I found the main character so incredibly dull and his actor so terribly wooden that nothing could make me watch past the second episode. Not even Sebastian Stan as the tortured gay son of a political leader, especially as you can just watch this vid instead:

(Though I consider the pilot worth watching just for the scene you see in this vid at 0:10, which is basically eye fucking at its best and one of the most erotic scenes I have seen in any show. The porn industry should take notes.)

Uh, did you mean to link a White Collar fanvid? (Just checking to be sure, given the conversation).

No, I did not, and I have no idea how that happened. I SWEAR I had the right vid open when I c/p the URL. It was running in the background, WTF self?!

Sorry about that. This is the right link:

That happens a lot, actually, copying "wrong" (i.e. don't click the right thing when highlighting, don't press down on the C all the way if going the keyboard route, etc.). So it just pasted the last thing you 'correctly' copied. (Though I actually quite liked the White Collar vid, too, so win-win for me! :P)
