(Anonymous) 2014-05-18 03:44 am (UTC)(link)I think the best way to know what it's like is to try playing one yourself. There are a bunch of quality (and often free) English-language otome games made by fans of the genre that you could download and try out. I recommend the following:

Mostly reading with some interactive choices. It's a commercial game, but the demo's free.
