Oh OP, everyone cares. Because by being official it finally proves that their OTP is the 'right' choice and proves all those other non-canon shippers were wrong all along. Only the true OTP shippers saw the purity of their love and were rewarded! Nyah nyah, I told you so, etc and so forth.
