I don't really get everyone's complex reasoning on this, I guess for me, I like things to become canon because...then they're canon. And if they're not canon, that's okay - a little disappointing, but that's what fic is for.

Yeah this basically.

I don't understand why people are like "But you can just read it in fanfic". Like, yes, I can but then you can say that of anything in a TV show/movie/book etc.

Why do you want this character to get development? Why do you want this character to die? Why do you want this storyline to end? What's the point in ANYTHING being canon if you can just read fanfic?
