I think I'm just tired of Spiderman movies, tbh. I didn't even particularly like the first trilogy but when I saw “There's going to be a new Spiderman!” my first thought was, “Why? Already?”

I mean, I don't hate the new movies or begrudge the fans them or anything, and honestly, I even saw the first one and was pleasantly surprised because it was better than expected, but I don't have any enthusiasm for them.

Not sure why they aren't getting fic though, because even movies that don't do great at the box office usually get some small measure of fandom. Maybe it's around but small?

Yeah, there's definitely a fandom. It's just teeny tiny.

As for "Why already?" My understanding is that if Sony doesn't make more Spider-Man movies, the rights revert back to Marvel. The same with Fox and X-Men & Fantastic 4. Thus we're getting a reboot of the Fantastic 4 and endless streams of X-Men movies.

Because God forbid Sony and Fox give up a money making franchise and have the characters revert to Marvel who might do something better with them. (And I liked the first X-Men movie and Days of Future Past.)

Poo, that's totally disappointing. I would love if Spidey got to be in a Marvel film (And I'm not even a major fan, but I think it could be fun) or maybe some of the X-Men. I had temporarily forgot about Fox and Sony owning them, and that big beef with not wanting Marvel to have them. (And I too liked First Class, and will see DOFP, But... Marvel would probably treat the properties better, and it's dumb to reboot a franchise a couple years later just so you can keep the rights. I get its business, but... Bah. How much do these movies make, anyway? How much do they cost to make? I wonder how lucrative they really are. Enough, I guess, or they wouldn't want to keep them so badly.)
