Spiders are awesome. I love them and never squish them. They are my lovies and I love them.

Agreed. Snakes are also awesome. Mice also make fun pets.

Snakes are GREAT. (I think my animal preferences come from the fact that I garden heavily and like animals that control pests for me) I prefer rats over mice. They're more fun to play with, I think. Not as scared, I guess.

ia about rats > mice. Rats are the only typical rodents I'd ever be interested in having as a pet, I think.

I grew up with pet snakes and tarantulas and geckos and all manner of reptiles. They are so awesome. Much more awesome than birds. FUCK BIRDS.

Birds are the worst. And they are harder to keep alive than fish. My sister had birds in the Philippines where we grew up. None of her birds lasted more than a year because they'd die at New Years from the fireworks. Sometimes earlier. Loud noises should not kill pets.

And they are MEAN! Every bird I have had has been an asshole.

The best fish is the good old gold fish. They are so uncomplicated.

Tropical fish are so touchy, not worth the pretty frills.

FUCK BIRDS INDEED. They're so dirty and noisy and horrible.

I know. We had a Quaker parrot that would purposely try to shit on us.

I like birds, but I think having one as a pet might be more pain than pleasure, because of the noise and the shitting everywhere and such. Also I am kind of jealous of your childhood because that sounds amazing.

We had sooo many pets. My dad was cool with any pets as long as they were not deathly poisonous.

I like seeing birds in the wild but they make awful pets.

Yes! I love birds, but why would you want to ruin birds by locking them in a house where their poop and mites can accumulate in your living space? I'm sure there's an upside, but . . . I'd rather just encounter them outside.

My uncle had an African Grey parrot; it very quickly learned the names of the dogs so that it could antagonize them 24/7. In theory, that's pretty cool! Smart bird! In practice -- anxious dogs and a bird who also enjoys imitating the smoke alarm.

Ten reasons you don't want an owl for a pet.

And then there are crows and ravens, who are gregarious creatures with a minimum range. They tend to go bugfuck crazy if kept alone.

I like you.

I like them because they kill the annoying bugs like mosquitoes. The only spiders in my area that really scare me are brown recluses (don't google "brown recluse bite"). I don't mind the harmless ones in my house, and the creepy-looking ones, I catch in a glass and put outside.

Brown recluses are a bit much, I admit. And widows. I grew up in wolf spider territory, too.
