Re: School Dress Codes

I loved having a school uniform, because I'm lazy and the idea of expressing myself through my appearance is alienating and occasionally panic-inducing. I basically have a "life uniform" now (that is less unflattering and itchy than the school uniform).

Some people hate them because they like to dress in particular ways that are expressive of their preferences or personality, and they prefer to be able to make choices about how to dress.

I went from Catholic grade school (1st to 8th grade) to public high school and I missed the uniforms. It took out all the thinking of what to wear to school. Everyday, is the uniformed cleaned and ironed? Yes. Then I am good to go. Nothing much more than that. I hated trying to scramble for things to wear in high school. And then you could always tell the wealthy kids from the poor kids because the wealthy kids had the name brands while the poorer kids had thread worn clothes. With uniforms, everyone was the same. Again, I missed that.
