Exotic animals shouldn't be kept as pets*. For both their sake and yours.

*I think there are some exceptions, mainly in what is considered "exotic", but things like tigers or wolves.

Honestly, as much as there are certain 'exotic' animals I'd like to have as pets (just, like, jerboas or something, not straight-up wild animals), I think it's probably still irresponsible to own/import them, due to the low likelihood of being able to find a vet that can treat them. ):
