Re: Controversial opinions: Animal edition

Agreed, and I would like to add that this goes for smaller breeds as well as large. As the owner of a small dog (because I haven't got the room for a large one) it really bugs me how whenever there's an article or something about a large dog maiming someone inevitably a bunch of people jump in with "But [insert breed here] are the cutest sweetest things ever! People shouldn't stereotype an entire breed! And anyway cocker spaniels are fucking maniacs." If you think you shouldn't stereotype an entire breed when one maims someone to death I don't see why it's okay to then stereotype a different breed because your aunt's chihuahua bit your finger once and didn't even break the skin. (Also, I say this as someone who once owned a cocker spaniel that was a fucking maniac.)

Cocker spaniels tend to get grumpy as they get older.

Really? I owned one and she mellowed out as she got older.

There's Rage Syndrome, but that's genetic and fairly rare.

Huh. I've never heard of rage syndrome, but I've noticed both cocker spaniels and Irish setters tend to get grumpier, less patient, and potentially bite-y as they age, esp. with kids.
