Re: Controversial opinions: Animal edition

Intentionally breeding an animal, with the sole exception of it being for conservation purposes, should be illegal. ANY animal.

There are enough animals around to keep people adopting for basically forever. All breeding does is lead to mass amounts of ~cute kitties and puppies!~ in pet shops, mass amounts of animals dying in shelters, and innocent animals being deliberately bred with debilitating deformities (like the aforementioned pugs and persians).

We've had two dogs in the past. The first one we got from a golden retriever breeder (because it was about twelve years ago and didn't know any better, and assumed that a bred dog would be healthier). He had chronic health problems, including hip dysplasia, partial facial paralysis, blindness in one eye, and chronic stomach issues, most of which are apparently common in purebreed golden retrievers.

Conversely, the mixed-breed rescue we had was the healthiest, smartest, and most social dog we've ever had.

Don't breed animals, you fucks.
