Eh, most people aren't actually disagreeing so much as going "Eh, it's hard to place." and moving on [or so it seems to me].

Also, you have to remember that while there are similarities between medieval structures, there are differences between regions [also, that most places don't actually recognize an era under the term "medieval" so much as "feudal"].

And...Attack on Titan really is just a mess in terms of what belongs when. A lot resembles the 1800's...except there are things that belong further back - in some cases actually in the Medieval time frame for Europe. For example, the sword in that picture? Probably a long-sword which was only really in use from the some point in the 1200's to the 1600's, and that includes early and late use. So it would have no business being anywhere in a story set in the 1800's, at least not being used as a serious weapon. It's also far from the only instance of that, as I'm sure you know.

tl;dr: People aren't exactly disagreeing so much as "Eh, it's a mess as far as technology and time period goes" because the author mixed a *lot* of time period stuff together. Probably either because they couldn't be bothered to do the research or went with Rule of Cool - if not both.

The sword in the picture is long because it's designed to cut out a large portion of flesh of a Titan, not because it's copying any style of historical sword.
Again, I'm not saying that Attack on Titan is set in Europe the 1800s; I'd say it's clearly still a fantasy setting. But if you look at the clothes, government, and so forth of the show, it's just not all very "medieval".

I'm not arguing that - just pointing out that most people aren't really reacting strongly either way because it's a mess overall so there's no real point in worrying about when it's set anyways.
