Re: Do you live with your parents?

Yep. I graduated college, worked abroad for a few years, needed then to take some time to examine my next step in life so went home. I didn't know how long I'd actually be in my hometown - at first I thought it'd be six months or so, so I just stayed with my parents thinking it wouldn't be worth it to get an apartment. Now it'll end up being closer to a year before I go off to grad school. I'm 24 and I feel a little like a loser, but in the country I worked abroad in, it was very typical for people to live with their parents until they got married so that softened my opinion a little. And I definitely don't judge others who live at home, unless they don't seem to have any other life aspirations and their parents are obviously a little distressed over it.

that's similar to my situation-- after uni I moved to Japan to work and then came home and lived with my parents while I looked for work. Except when I found work I decided to continue living with them because it's cheaper than moving out :P I can save a lot more money that way.

That's why I'm still here. What's the point in moving out and having to pay several hundred dollars a month in rent when I could live at home for free in exchange for cooking and cleaning and running errands? My parents are getting older and are happy to have the help around the house and the company. It's a win-win situation for everyone, and when I do move out I'll have a nice cushion of savings.
