I actually like it to, though I could have done without "Albus Severus". That was a "really?" moment for me. After everything else Snape had done to you, you named your kid after him?

And Neville! And who knows how many other students who were stuck with him over the years.

Snape may be a brave sad woobie, but he was a terrible teacher and a bigger bully than James. :(

Have you seen this post on tumblr about the kid being named after Snape because of a Neville/Harry prank war? It's the only way I can pretend it makes sense tbh.

oh jeez, oh no; I am too old to laugh this hard, ow.

headcanon accepted, perfection acknowledged. my life has been forever enriched.

It is the only logical explanation. :D

You're welcome!

That's even better than the fic I read that had Ginny naming him (and the other kids) just to annoy the hell out of ghost!Snape.

(Sorry, can't remember what it was called.)

I've read that one! But yeah, I like this idea better. :)

Seriously. And he may have loved Lily, but he also hurt her in the end. He did deserve credit where it was due, but he didn't deserve to be the namesake of a kid whose father and grandfather he hated.

Yep, seriously. I've honestly only ever seen two "valid" reasons for him being named after Snape, and both were crack, one a fic, and one a tumblr post. In the actual book, though...?

Nah.

Yup, because if Harry learned anything from Snape is how healthy it is to hold grudges!

What books did you read??? lol

really?

letting go of a grudge =/= naming your kid after someone

There's a difference between "learning how to let go of a grudge" and "naming your kid after someone who tormented you and your friends growing up because ~forgiveness".

Like, a mountain of difference.

You can forgive someone, and move on from a grudge without naming your kid after them.

But that's his choice. Can we not allow him that? He'd thought about it and decided that was how he was going to honor Snape. Harry doesn't strike me as some kind of victim who would mindlessly cheer on "yes, yes, of course I should name my kid after him!" He's HATED Snape forever. He decided to move on, and he'd obviously thought about what Snape had meant to the arc of his life (ugh, horrible phrasing but I think I've made my point clear).
