I tell everyone I hated high school, but sometimes I wonder if I would've liked it better had I not been so busy convincing myself I didn't really need friends anyway.

Sometimes I feel like I'm weird about this because my high school experience was so much more positive than my college experience has been.

Anyway, even if a part of your life sucked, you can learn a lot from it, anon.

Yeah, this is me. I adored high school but was in a really bad headspace at uni, so I never bothered to make friends. As a consequence, my HS was the best time of my life and uni was what sucked rather than the other way round.

Pretty much! "Bad headspace" is a good descriptor for much of college for me too. I made a few friends, but I stayed away from most big social groups. Which resulted in me not having as much of a social life as I would have liked, but hey. I'm hoping high school, much as I loved it, doesn't wind up being the best time of my life - I hope there's better still to come! (also because I first developed depression in high school, so that bit wasn't fun.)
