What amuses me about that is he was so obviously trying to pander to tumblr kids who see sexism in their breakfast cereal, and ended up insulting them and everyone else instead.

The Martian Manhunter bit is amazing too.

I feel like Jerry Seinfeld in the bit about the dentist who converts to Judaism just for the jokes. "And this offends you as a Jewish person?" "Frankly, it offends me as a comedian." Put aside how dumb and offensive everything that he's saying here - how can you seriously look at the Martian Manhunter and NOT see a ton of interesting story ideas? How can you look at She-Hulk and only see a sexual fantasy? What fucking kind of writer is David Goyer that this is his priority.

What kind of writer willingly steps into the comic book limelight without knowing simple level comic shit like Hulk and She-hulk are cousins!?

Any writer worth their salt will be aware of what goes on at both companies, even if they primarily work with one or the other.

Sadly, Whedon is just as bad as Goyer -- he's just more subtle about it, and he often doesn't realize he's not half as feminist as he thinks he is.

When I read the Martian Manhunter bit, I was reminded of when people were asking why the Green Lantern wasn't black in the movie when he was black in the Justice League cartoon, and yeah, the cartoon and J'onn appearing on the big screen are much farther apart than the cartoon and the Green Lantern movie, but I'm willing to bet that more people are aware of J'onn than he is giving them credit for.

UGH THE GREEN LANTERN FLAP

A SJW-ish friend of mine was trying to declare that the movie was racist because of that. "John Stewart is the most well known Lantern!"

Uh, no he isn't. Hal Jordan to most people is Green Lantern. Stewart might be the most well known among people of a certain age, but Hal is the most well known overall and the origin story is exclusively his.

That's like asking why Green Lantern wasn't a redhead or an artist. Or a Syrian-American.

Lets face it, Guy Gardner would have been a better movie. No disrespect to Jon Stewart. But protagonist wise, Guy has the most potential to be loved.

No argument there.

That demographic and what they do and don't know was pointed to when they decided that Batgirl needs to be Barbara Gordon.

He seriously dragged out the "Comic book fans are all virgins" joke. He literally just straight-up did that.

AND THIS GUY IS WRITING A MOVIE ABOUT BATMAN, SUPERMAN, AND WONDER WOMAN.
