I've always found it interesting how anime as a whole takes a pander to EVERYONE approach.

I was just thinking this. In the west there's a stigma against finding cartoons sexually attractive but in anime it's like, boob shots and ass shots even in shows aimed at children! feel no shame!

On that front, I rather prefer the western approach...

I've always been ambivalent on the fanservice aspect of. I think it distracts from the actual plot in certain shows, but for things that are already rolling in it anyway, it's fine. It's also one of the few mediums (I guess? it's not a genre) that has a somewhat steady stream of stuff that directly panders to women, probably because of that approach.
