Oh! Don't get me wrong, I certainly do NOT think that slash fans can't appreciate a good friendship. Far from it.

It's just that after nearly ten years of interacting with slash fans, I'm convinced that there is a certain contingent of really insistent "they HAVE to be gay! They obviously cannot be straight! Gen devalues the true extent of their love!" slashers who seem so personally invested in it, so hyperbolic and unrealistic about what a romantic relationship entails, and so incapable of comprehending the idea of platonic intimacy that I can't help think there's more to their mindset than just really, really, really liking slash.
