Misandry. It may not exist in the sense of an institutionalised problem, but it definitely is a word which can be used to describe a certain mindset of an individual person or a group of people with a shared mindset.

Those discussions always leave me so frustrated. I agree with you and I will always fight for a person's right to complain even if there are people facing worse problems. But there really are also people who refuse to understand that misogyny is institutionalized in many ways that misandry is not.

Sure, but it's not even close to being the widespread problem that people who point out "misandry" make it out to be. How often do men feel like they are the victims of misandry in their daily lives? Also, most gender-specific problems that men face actually come from misogyny. For example, people are so dismissive of things like male rape, because it's "something that happens to women", and society deems it is shameful for a man to be like a woman.

Lmao, even spellcheck doesn't think misandry exists, and is giving me "misaddress" as the correction.

I hate coming into this discussion, but that's a stupid reason to say a word doesn't exist. Spell-check misses words all the time. Once, I had spell-check tell me pansexual doesn't exist. By your logic, that means that pansexuality doesn't exist. Besides, not all spellchecks are the same. Mine actually recognizes misandry.

I never said it was and I quite frankly think it's beside the point what's the bigger/worse problem. I was also thinking more along the lines of those "kill all men" kinds of situations. Or when a bunch of women get together on national television and have a jolly good time amusing themselves about the fact that a man got brutally mutilated just for divorcing his wife. I never said that it happens as or more often than misogyny but it is still the fitting term for a certain kind of opinion.

Misandry still is a word that has a meaning, and it can be relevant. It doesn't have to be institutionalized or a daily problem to be a word with a meaning.

And frankly, I've found the ones who deny the word is a word (?) are the ones most likely to say all men should die or other immature absurdities.

I think we need another word, which doesn't share roots or form with "misogyny". Because I've definitely known people who hate men in general; one of them was a man, too, which was a mind-blowing experience for young me.
