It's very similar to something my shrink told me to do during a session to replace the image I had of my abusive father. She made me imagine an idealized version of the father I'd have liked to have and to cling to it. It's been working very well for me so far.

So, what you're doing is a nice way to get closure and have more positive feelings about it, so keep doing it!

Thanks, it does work pretty well, not only to lighten my mood but also to avoid raining on the love parade on Mother's Day.
