Keyboard woes/advice appreciated

My keyboard is being temperamental today. It's not responding half the time I try pressing a key. Typing is an exercise in frustration, doubly so when backspace is one of the keys on the fritz. It's making it hard to communicate in online games/chats, and I don't think I could play anything with a large reliance on keyboard controls right now.

I have £40 left until 5 June, and since my mum will need £20 of that for petrol and I need two £4.20 bus fares, getting a new keyboard is not an option. Anyone got any ideas for trying to make my keyboard work properly?

Google how to clean that type of computer and hope it's that? I once had a very sticky R key and all I had to to was take it off and re apply it.
If that doesn't work or you are not willing to try, look for an on-screen keyboard? It won't be as fast but it might save you a bit.

It's a PC not a laptop so cleaning might be possible. Will have to wait until tomorrow I think though, would prefer to be taking keys on and off in daylight.

I know it's possible. My brother once rearranged them to read "FUCK YO".

Decided that doing it tonight, while my dad's not downstairs to make snide comments as I do it, would be better.

Seems to have worked. And my god, the crap that was under my keys...
