Aww, nerdery isn't something you need to grow out of. It's something that you can carry with you for the rest of your life (if you want). It isn't hurting anyone and if it brings you joy then it's worth it. No reason not to do what makes you happy, right?

Besides, figures and art are awesome. :p

I'm bad at learning such lessons. I keep trying to be the "adult" that I think that people think I should be. Then I realize I'm miserable and go back to being a fangirl and a nerd. It's happened 2-3 times in my life so far. :(

Again, if it isn't hurting anyone I don't see what the problem is. Everyone's different, if this is what you care about you should embrace it. There's no reason you need to be what anyone else thinks you should be. You only have one life, you might as well enjoy it.

Slowly learning this. Struggled with it in my 20s. Coming to accept and embrace it in my 30s. Hopefully by my 40s I won't give a fuck what anyone says. :D

That's the way to be! Cap would approve, I think.

My mother and I were discussing how, at my age, I ought to have a lot more money in the bank than I do, preparing for my retirement. Unfortunately, I left a relatively lucrative job 2 years before I would've achieved retirement benefits, and have not yet found a job that offers anything comparative where I've been currently living for the past ten years.

Mom suggested that maybe my action figures, my model horses, and my original anime cels and genki are my retirement, which, considering some of them are currently going for a lot of money, and some will continue to accrue in value, isn't necessarily a bad thought (we won't go into the signed first publications, because there just aren't enough of those).

That is an option, although I doubt I'll ever have more than 10-15k worth of stuff, if only because I live in an apartment. >.>;

I have a very tiny house that's crammed full of what I affectionately refer to as 'fandom crap'. Fortunately, I know some of it's already worth money. Some of it would only be worth money to the right buyer. And some of it is just plain...weird.
