Isn't just the standard definition of "character I think is cool" and "character I am sexually attracted to"? It's okay to think female characters are awesome without being sexually attracted to them, and it's okay to not write porn about characters you're not sexually attracted to.

This is just logic and common sense. Nobody asks the dudes in fandom why they keep drawing porn of the hot girls they like and berates them for not drawing more male characters or spending more time writing shippy fic featuring Marcus Fenix.

I think what makes OP's behavior more unique is that she doesn't care at all about the characters she finds attractive. she doesn't relate to them or cares about what happens to them in canon. That part isn't as prevalent as what you're saying.
