(Anonymous) 2014-05-25 10:00 pm (UTC)(link)I think they tend to exist in places where it's hard to have sex anywhere else. For example, they are all over here in Tokyo because people often live with their families, don't drive cars, etc. There's just not a great place to go and have sex. Maybe there's even a bigger will to keep sexual relationships more private, too, hence love hotels.
Whereas in America, it's a lot more unusual for adults to live with their families. Of course, people still go to hotels to have sex, but bringing someone back to your apartment is usually easy enough, too.
I don't know if that's the reason, I'm just speculating.
