I admit that I'd rather get a comment than a kudos, but a kudos makes me super-happy, too. A comment makes me ecstatic.

And yes, there are times where I enjoyed a fic to a mild degree and I have no specific comments, so that's when I give a kudos. I feel like, if I read a fic and I didn't hate it and I found *something* of merit in it, I should leave a kudos, just to thank the author for going to the effort of writing and posting it.
