maybe it's less to do with 'tolerance and acceptance' and more to do with the fact that everyone adores Neil Patrick Harris? or maybe they just think his show is better.

because i gotta be honest, this way of attributing things solely to an interesting in promoting acceptance and tolerance is not a good look. it's a bit paranoid and i think it's very rarely true and... it just has nasty implications.

MTE. It makes me cringe so much. It seems like they're implying a gay person can only win the award if people are patronizing them for the sake of "acceptance".

Also... come the fuck on, it's the Tonys. PRETTY sure a few gay folks have already won some of those over the years.

That's what I wanted to say. Not to mention that there is a reason why musicals are a stereotypical "gay thing". I'm pretty sure it's one of the most accepting/diverse show businesses (compared to others).
