It's really tricky, because on one hand we can't ignore the fact that normal PUA garbage people don't murder, and that the guy's instability was obviously a big factor in what he did. On the other hand, you can just tell that some of the people stressing his mental illness and that his targets were "arbitrary" because he was so crazy just don't want to even acknowledge the role societal sexism played in what he did, and are so annoyed to see people caring about misogyny that they feel compelled to downplay its role.

Everybody wants to extract attention for their own cause out of this whole mess really.
