I kind of see both sides. I have wondered if we're not taking someone's mental illness and applying it to something... else. At the same time, while I acknowledge he was mentally ill and this was an extreme reaction, what freaks me out is where it comes from, that rejecting a guy means we deserve certain responses. So yeah, some of us are speaking out. And I really hope no one on twitter thinks I'm just pandering or trivializing the issue.

Yeah I've seen this, admittedly from a sample size of one, but then, it only takes one, doesn't it?

AIUI the guy I know of stalked two (different) coworkers outside the workplace, but didn't murder or assault either of them (dunno why--didn't want to sh*t where he ate I guess), and he was never caught for murdering anyone. Still expect to see his name/face on the news one of these days though.

Pretty sure you have a greater chance of drowning in your bathtub that being killed by someone like this (hell maybe even than being murdered in general).

Coming across a stalker? Maybe. But already having a stalker who is going into great lengths to inappropriately follow you due to an obsession? That more than not always leads to violence of some sort if you do not take action.
