Timeline of Tar Season Anon

(Inspired by Newtonian crab secret)

Basically, I have a theory that tar season anon started earlier than the first tar season secret. Specifically, can anyone else remember the absolutely cray secret about how Rory from Dr Who and something about scarecrows and fires Roman killing fields? I was months and months ago, and yet the first time I saw tar secret I immediately got Rory scarecrow vibes from it. Please someone tell me I'm not imagining this!

That almost feels likely, but I'm not sure if it's some translation thing or if OP is just trying to make their secrets as bizarre and confusing as possible. With fs how can you know? (I bet they want to be remembered at any rate, or they wouldn't keep using similar stories/language.)

They're entertaining though, and maybe that's the whole point.

Man, the separate references scattered among different secrets weirded me out, but having them all together like this is really surreal. And yet... it reads like a coherent if strange narrative. I feel like I'm reading Annie Proulx, talking about desolate rural communities with strange traditions and the isolation of the people. ~Stay for the road melt.~

my head canon is that Tar Anon is posting in the voice of a character from some obscure piece of fiction.

Can I prove it? No. Do I enjoy imaging the world this RP character comes from? Hell yes. Puts me in mind of a cross between Terry Pratchett and - I don't even fucking know what. Field Burning! Cabbage! Spud 'n' Tar soup!
