I honestly don't know, but... (and this is going to sound entirely too serious to be talking about a secrets comm) things change. People change, constantly. So I think it's just the nature of things, that as long as places like this are going to be around, things are going to evolve.

There's no way to tell how many users (both named and otherwise) that were here prior 2013 are still here, and with new members the tone shifts, I think. Especially if you have a a lot of new members, though, again, I'm not so sure how many of us were here before 2013.

Fandom in general is much different than it was a decade ago, so I suppose it's normal and to be expected.

I was here before 2013 (since maybe 2009-ish), but I didn't start really reading regularly or commenting until 2012. So, even though I've been here I can't really comment on the state of things back when since I wasn't much of a regular. It might be the same for others too.

I've been visiting fs on and off almost since it's opening but I've never been a regular commenter either. I would come and go, sometimes lurk and forget about it completely, so I'm in the same boat. The move to dreamwidth was the first time I've commented regularly and stuck with the place for over a couple months at a time.

Although, even when I was only commenting sporadically over at LJ, I do feel the comm was more hostile. Not that we don't still have those moments, but it seems to me there was much more wank when the comm was on LJ. (For whatever reason.)

Yeah. The only times I ever commented on lj, I got my ass jumped because they didn't like my opinion. Like, one time I got into an argument because I said the Marvel movies were popcorn movies full of eye candy.

...lmao. That's exactly what they are, and usually tends to be a big part of the reason people like them.

I mean, I DO think some of them are very solid films in general despite that (and deal with dark topics surprisingly well; especially Winter Soldier and Iron Man 3), but...that isn't something to get into an argument over.
