From what I hear, no. Not unless you take it with a pinch of salt and a bowl of your favorite sauce to make it taste good.

I personally like it. Everyone on Tumblr screams and cries about how it's not true cosplay, but it showcases a different side of cosplay. I've never entered into the realm of competitive cosplay, so it's interesting to me.

it's not, tho. competitive cosplay is nothing at all like what they show. most of the time it's a lot more boring and laid back and the only drama is if you have a costume malfunction in the green room, which is taken care of five minutes later when the director plugs in the hot glue gun.

so, if by different side you mean fake side, then sure.

It's ridiculous (and apparently staged), but I did like seeing all the different cosplayers (some of them seemed really cool) and pretty costumes.

If you like fake drama, it's worth it. It also caused real drama last season (not shown because it involves cosplayers pissed off at HoC for ruining Masquerades).
