I had an argument yesterday about public domain. Everyone seems to agree that it's not wrong in any way to use PD materials without mentioning what they're from. I still think it's wrong, wrongwrongwrong and should be something to call people out on. Legal =/= okay, dammit! Would you publish a book with passages lifted straight from something written 100 years ago and let people assume they're your own? Goddamn...

(I guess the actual confession here is that I still think this way even when nobody else does...sorry, the vent got a bit out of hand.)

Huh? Using stuff from public domain isn't a copyright issue, it's still a citation issue.

I think it wouldn't even occur to most people to do that... so I see your point but I don't think it's a very big issue.
