Icons influence the way I think of people on the internet. I know it's stupid, but I don't often realize it at first.

Same here. Like if someone's icon is all smushed and pixellated with grainy unreadable text I usually find myself thinking less of them.

It's not stupid at all. Human beings are wired to pair visuals with conversation. As text is a purely visual communication, doubly so. Plus people usually put a lot of effort and thought into choosing their icons. It does usually reflect some aspect of themselves.

It is. I graduated from Buena High school in 1999, though did some time at Tombstone that year as well.

Yeah. I can look past an ugly icon if I get to know someone and they're cool, but if they're someone who gets on my nerves for whatever reason, an ugly icon makes them probably 50 times more annoying.

I love icons (way too much) and enjoy looking at other people's, but with me it's usually the people influencing the icons.

Once I was using a picture of a famous actor for a friends contact picture on my cell (we were both fans, and he reminded me of her). We went through a rough period and eventually the actors face started to grate on my nerves. (So I changed it.)

So basically, while I won't dislike or think less of someone if their icon doesn't do it for me, if I have issues with the person using said icon, the icon will eventually grow 'tainted'. (That isn't typically a problem here on fs, though.)
