She's just an awkward person in general, so her face is sometimes awkward too. :)

She sounds adorable. Almost makes me want to check out Morning Musume. Not sure if I want to go down that rabbit hole. I did listen to a bit of Cute ages ago though and I'm fond of Maimi Yajima. Wonder what she's up to.

Her group is Team Syachihoko, and they're really solid, musically. If you'd like, I have tons of Jpop recs for groups. Just if you're interested.

Maimi's my favorite member of C-ute; I don't follow them THAT much, but I have a particular fondness for Maimi. They're still going strong; I don't know when you stopped paying attention, but they've been down to five members for a while now; Airi, Maimi, Nakky, Mai and Chisato. Girl groups have all had a bit of an upswing, so they've been doing well. They had a solo concert at the Budokan last year, which was pretty exciting for them.

I never really followed C-ute or anything. Just watched a few music videos and that's about it. Maimi had the best voice imo and she was just absolutely beautiful. it is a bit hard to believe she is only a year younger than me. I'm glad C-ute is doing well!

I remember being a bit worried that Maimi wouldn't be around as the leader for much longer since was getting out of her teens. Since it seemed that idol groups have an age limit.

Maimi's a really great leader; I doubt they'd want her to go. Actually, she's probably one of my favorite idol group leaders, just because she clearly puts her group/other members first. As for idol group age limits, the H!P Kids (C-ute and Berryz) don't seem to really go by that. Berryz just put out a song that was like "isn't it weird to be idols for 10 years?" to celebrate that they've been a group for 10 years.

Let me know if any of these strike your fancy, or if you have particular music tastes you want but in JPop. I generally just follow girl groups and female idol singers, so my tastes are limited to that, but there's a huge amount of variety in the music.

Is she? Do you have any videos or something that showcase this? Or really, any videos of her just being awesome would be great. I'm so glad to hear she's a good leader! That's great to hear, I hope she stays around for as long as she wants/is able to. I really want her to continue in her success.

This is the one I always go back to. Berryz Koubou and C-ute did a concert together, since they were the Hello!Project Kids together. They did this video reminiscing of their early days together. However, Kanna joined later than them, and wasn't there for any of that. Maimi notices, and immediately brings Kanna in. That's kind of the type of leader she generally is.
