My husband is a Navy vet with a service-connected disability, and he's been having some serious health problems of late (e.g. he hasn't been able to eat properly for a couple of weeks). The VA in our area scheduled him an appointment...for October. And when he tried to get in touch with them to ask for it to be moved up, they first responded by...not responding (he'd leave a message with someone and then no one would call him back), and now they're just not answering his calls at all. So I'm like, "oh wonderful, is this one of the VAs that's lying about wait times?"

This sucks balls >.< Unfortunately I've no advice (am not much of a specialist in this regard), but I do hope that your husband'll be all right and that they respond soon.

Gah, I gotta reply to this because I really appreciate it. He's "self-medicating," and he's gotten in contact with the VA in a state where we previously lived, and they might be able to work with him. So we'll see. Fingers crossed, and all that.

Not at all. I like you and I know how miserable the healthcare system problems can be, especially if they concern your loved ones. Do give an update on the situation if you're okay with it.
