My index finger still hurts and I cannot draw. FUCK EVERYTHING I WANT TO DRAW. NO.

I'm also seriously wishing I had some kind of common sense/deductive logic test machine built into my brain. It would automatically proofread my texts and tell me if they make any damn sense to someone other than me.

An argument with a family member about welfare and unemployment and how people on welfare are not "people who could work but simply refuse to do so" and that getting a job is not an easy thing.

Got a two-month internship in the lab, that'll end next week. Will get my diploma next month. Newly graduated interns are usually offered a two-month job at this lab to fill up employees' summer holiday. Usually.
My superior keeps telling me they don't yet how many summer jobs they will need. But. During coffee break I overheard coworkers discuss how it's already open, with two of the five slots taken.
I feel like I'm not wanted and deliberately kept away.

TW: sexual assault.

When the first question the cops asked me when I said "I have to report an attempted rape," was "What bar were you coming from?" That and the fact that only after they were satisfied that I was a "good" victim with other stupid leading questions (no, I was coming from uni not a bar, no, I haven't been drinking, yes, my jacket was zipped closed it's fucking October, yes, I screamed, yes, I said no, yes I fought back) would they actually let me tell them real information like a description and which way he went, let alone show me any sympathy, ask me if I were okay, give me water, offer to take me to the hospital.

Honestly, it's almost been a year and I've pretty much gotten over the assault to the point I can talk about it without problems and no longer panic at being alone in the dark, but STILL every time I think about the experience with the police the same impotent, boiling rage comes up to the point that I feel physically ill. Because, fuck it, even if I'd been drinking, or dressed "provocatively" (whatever that means), or too damn scared to resist I would still have deserved respect and help and it would still have been their fucking job to get over themselves and go after the bastard.

... yeah... maybe I should try therapy again.

I don't know... my boss being sarcastic. I told her I was leaving at 11pm since I came in at 2:30 instead of working 10 hours and she was said "Good for you." Wtf? I wasn't even going to leave early yesterday until she talked me into it on Thursday. She always does shit like that. Once I came in to get certain things done but ended up having to take care of a weird unexpected issue and when I was telling her about it she literally said "Yay! You were doing your job!" WTF DOES THAT MEAN? Does she think I do a crap job? Does she not give a shit about what's going on? She always wants to offer her opinion on stuff she does even know the procedures on, so I figure she likes to know what's up. She told me I was doing a good job after one trouble-maker employee tried to start shit with me saying I was rude and unhelpful. Though my boss did take the employee's side in the meeting we had, then talk to me in private later she was just trying yo keep the peace and thought I was doing good, so who the fuck knows. Ugh. Work sucks.

A comment here yesterday upset me a bit.

My sister broke up with her boyfriend (mostly for reasons of controlling behaviour on his part) the better part of a year ago, but because they're all on the same course, she still has to go to class with him and his friends. Apparently, while he himself is content to do the 'silent reproach from a distance' thing, several of his friends still harass her for 'breaking his heart'.

Last week one of them graduated from petty harassment to "I'd better not see you at the con or else".

She is at the other end of the country from me and has her own friends for back-up, or I swear to god I would go break someone's face, never mind his fucking heart. You bloody try to threaten my sister out of a public venue because your whiny bastard of a friend is too fucking 'heartbroken' to, what, share a crowded building with her? Go sit on a railing spike, you fucking asshole.

this "YesAllWomen" "NotAllMen" thing. God, I wish it would just go awaaaaaayyy.

Not only are the analogies they use stupid (that M&M one and I saw one involving Russian roulette), but their posts are getting more and more ridiculous (some post I saw was like, "Men should not even look at women when walking down a street. They should be NICE and walk to the other sid eof the street."

Though that Islamic Fundamentalist Leader approving of YesAllWomen was hilarious.

My husband is a Navy vet with a service-connected disability, and he's been having some serious health problems of late (e.g. he hasn't been able to eat properly for a couple of weeks). The VA in our area scheduled him an appointment...for October. And when he tried to get in touch with them to ask for it to be moved up, they first responded by...not responding (he'd leave a message with someone and then no one would call him back), and now they're just not answering his calls at all. So I'm like, "oh wonderful, is this one of the VAs that's lying about wait times?"

Work stuff, mostly. People are lying about me and it doesn't feel good.

Also, I'm going to a convention coming up and there are some GOH-fan events coming up. There was recently a tragedy in Japan where two members of a girl group (including my favorite member of said group) got attacked by someone. So this convention did some basic extra security (basically you have to check your bag before doing this event) and now people are getting angry. And now I'm pretty angry at these people, because this basic security is going to go a long way.

I went into a Barber's because I wanted a cheap, short, low-maintenance BOY'S HAIRCUT. I was told they didn't have the insurance to cut my hair.

How.

I wanted my hair to be cut identically to how a boy would have their hair cut, and my hair is SHORT, it's just starting to get to the point where it's irritating. Why would INSURANCE make any difference here? I already find it annoying how in most places I have to pay more for the exact same thing, and I can't enter the one hairdresser's that doesn't charge more for 'women' because the place stinks of perfume and I am allergic to perfume (seriously, it smells so much I spent the next ten minutes coughing after I entered it and left half a minute later, after the lady said, "Yes, it's perfume" and then "no, it's not perfume" after I said "Then goodbye, I am allergic.").

My 1st/2nd grade combined ESL(maybe technically EFL) class. It has 30 students. I have one co-teacher. My Korean is basic at best.

All of this would be bearable except for THAT ONE STUDENT, who is constantly running up to touch the smart board, running ON TOP OF the desks, fighting with classmates (he stabbed a kid with a pencil once)...now, I'm reasonable. I know these kids are 7-8 years old; I don't expect them to sit still and straight in their chairs, answer in unison, and stay quiet unless spoken to; but this ONE KID is making it impossible for all the other kids to learn, and there is nothing I can do with him. Nothing. AAAARRRRGGGGH.

How terrible and co-dependent I am and how me totally not realising it completely destroyed a friendship, and how I've been basically kicking myself to death for being 'too selfish' since the friendship imploded, when that was literally the exact opposite of what I should have been kicking myself for.

Also, fictional characters.

I have a huge rant about princess culture

[personal profile] ibbity 2014-06-01 01:11 am (UTC)(link)
Going into the toy aisle actually makes me mad now because I cannot STAND how incredibly aggressively the whole "smile and be a pretty pretty princess and that's basically all, and everything you do MUST be related to being a pretty pretty princess (but never a queen)" thing is being fore-fed to little girls. It's extremely difficult to find anything aimed at little girls that isn't related to princesses right now. It's like some kind of backlash against the idea that girls can be rough and tough and un-"girly" is happening, where they're trying to get 'em while they're still young and malleable and train them to sit pretty in their stereotypical gender role. I saw a DVD recently that was titled something like "Princess Barbie goes to charm school" (probably not the actual title, but 100% accurate description of the story as outlined on the back of the case) and it took a lot of effort not to throw it on the ground and stomp on it.

Really mad? Probably when my supposed best friend basically stabbed me in the back, and instead of trying to talk out our problems like adults, she decided it would be better for her to act like a child and ignore me for days on end instead.

I ended our friendship after that.
