(Anonymous) 2014-06-01 03:07 am (UTC)(link)I can't find anything to suggest Pratchett said the bit about "once you publish your fanfiction you surrender the rights to me, in case I write something similar." That doesn't sound very sensible, and not like Pratchett. This is what I found, that IS sensible:

Basically he's fine with it as long as you don't put it where he's likely to read it, isn't for profit and isn't labeled as "official".

(Anonymous) 2014-06-01 07:36 am (UTC)(link)Nope! I simply went the route of "even if everything you say about Pratchett is true, it's still not the way that copyright works." It didn't occur to me that you might not be married to that idea of Pratchett. (And, although I like his work, I'm not a staunch defender of his virtue.)
Fortunately for both of us, the other anon looked it up!
