(Anonymous) 2014-06-01 12:43 am (UTC)(link)the sudden need to have a lot of headcanons for characters as "gender nonconforming" or "trans" or whatever, (especially when that headcanon doesn't really make sense for the character in question), sort of strikes me as a bit skeevy.
like it's being used as a "fashionable" or "quirky" addition to a character (like mental illness, don't even get me started on that)
I think it initially started as a way of exploring the issue sensitively, probably by people who were actually gnc or trans or w/e, but now it's so often handled poorly, and.... ugh. no.
