Can be interesting when done well. However, I think it's tricky - it can get too OOC because writers often think "I can't write the character exactly like they were in their old life". Which is true, a reincarnation would not be exactly the same. But sometimes, they turn into complete OCs with only their looks roughly the same, and that really doesn't work for me anymore. Then there's the trouble with names: You can't really give the characters the same names, but especially in a "whole cast reincarnation" case, learning new names for every single character is pretty annoying for the reader.

I think reincarnation into modern times AUs for SnK don't work, at least not if the "modern times" is a reflection of our present time. Because I am pretty sure that SnK is not some middle ages kind of setting and I'm very sure that a modern version of that particular universe would not be anything like our current world.
