Re: Fanfiction Opinion Question

It sort of depends which fandom and how it's written.

But, on a more meta level I love universe-building and that's part of my enjoyment of fiction- so for example, I don't know why I'd be interested in a Game of Thrones AU set in an American high-school. Even i well-written, I found the original premise much more appealing.

I've read a couple of good Phantom of the Opera ones back in the day, but it's basically just one of those tropes that works in multiple settings.

I feel like, if you're going to rite an AU - do something non-conventional with it at least.
