Wow, I was just going to make a secret about how I'm glad Ziva left too. I didn't need her to be killed off though. I felt bad for the actress since it didn't seem like she wanted to go but I thought the writers did a good job introducing the new character. I rolled my eyes when I heard her description when they were casting the character but she's turned out to be pretty good so far, so I'm pleased.

What I'm pleased with more is that without Ziva, Tony's characterization is no longer shackled by Tiva. I honestly didn't mind Tiva at the beginning but when it started to hijack plots and characterization, I was so over it. I've been really pleased what they've done with Tony this season (for the most part). I like that he didn't get mopey or throw himself into meaningless affairs after Ziva left. I've also been really happy with the Tony/Tim bromance. Even though Tony's still giving Tim grief, it's been toned down to a brotherly affection and Tim totally gives as good as he gets. And Tony was really supportive to Tim with the whole Delilah thing. So, that pleased me.

I also found that Ziva's actress had these occasional acting tics that annoyed me so I'm glad of the Tony and Ziva ship, she was the one to go. Overall, I think the new actress has breathed some new life into the show and brought fresh energy. I like that she can ask all the questions that Tony and Tim wouldn't because they'd know all that stuff and it would be weird. It's helpful for casual viewers and new viewers and to get new insights into the old characters.

I'm also happy that she's married so there won't be any more will they/won't they. I've just been really happy this season.

I'm pretty sure it was the other way around. They tried to keep her but she was determined to leave. They had to rewrite part of the season and they had trouble shooting her farewell episodes because she refused to show up on set.

Hmm, interesting. I had heard that she was in contract negotiations and was asking for more money (to be on par with some of the male actors?). She intended to go back and wanted to continue with the show but the network decided to drop her rather than pay her, which surprised everyone, including the writers, who had to scramble to rewrite the episodes. It seemed like she didn't want to go, but maybe I heard wrong.

Maybe what you're thinking of happened after that? I know I don't know anything after she was dropped from the show. I can see not wanting to return after being dumped like that, but what I know? *shrug*

She wanted something that CBS wasn't willing to give. I don't personally think it was money, but opinions vary on whether it was money, more time off, a shorter contract, etc. CBS of course says it wasn't money. She didn't say anything IIRC other than that it was time for her to move on or something like that. I did hear that Mark Harmon advised her to take the offer she was given, and I don't think he would have done that if it was unfair.

Whatever happened, I'm pretty sure from what I've read that she was the one who walked away in the end, not CBS. Whatever she was asking for, it was apparently something she wasn't willing to back down on and CBS wasn't willing to give. The problem was that this happened just a few days before filming for season eleven started, they already had the scripts written and everything, everyone apparently expected her to re-sign,...and then she didn't. And it kind of threw everything into a mess.

what i read was that cote wasn't getting equal pay to the rest of the cast (michael, pauley, and sean) and wanted to get paid as much as them. cbs said no, cote said "fine, then i quit".
